CARAMEL APPLE SELF SAUCING PUDDING

The perfect dessert when you have family coming over for dinner, or when you want a little comfort for yourself! It's so easy to whip up and always goes down a treat. Serve warm with ice cream and watch it disappear!



Ingredients:

Cake

2 apples, peeled and finely sliced

1 cup self-raising flour

3/4 cup white sugar

1/2 cup milk

1 egg

1 tsp vanilla extract

60g (2oz) butter


Sauce

1 1/2 cups boiling water

3 tbsp golden syrup


Method:

  • Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a 1.5 litre (6 cup) capacity ovenproof dish.

  • Place the apples, flour, sugar, milk, egg and vanilla extract in a lowl and mix.

  • Spoon the mixture into the prepared dish.

  • Cut the butter into chunks and scatter over the top of the mixture.

  • Dissolve the golden syrup in the boiling water and gently pour over the top.

  • Bake for 30-40 minutes until golden and bubbling.

  • Allow to rest for at least 10 minutes before serving to allow time for the sauce to thicken slightly.

Cooking Time: 30-40 minutes
