I am sure most of you would have a mum or grandma with a recipe like this in their collection. This is old-school, simple cooking, and is both warming and comforting. Whenever you are cooking with sausages, make sure you buy the best quality you can afford. Serve with mashed potatoes.

Ingredients:
8 good quality sausages
3 tbsp plain flour
3 tbsp tomato relish or sauce
3 tbsp malt vinegar
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp white sugar
3 cups boiling water
salt and pepper to taste
Method:
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
Prick the sausages and place them in an ovenproof dish that will fit them snugly but with a little gap in between each one.
In a small bowl, mix the flour, tomato relish, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce and sugar to a smooth paste.
Add the boiling water, season with salt and pepper, and mix to combine.
Pour over the sausages. Bake uncovered for 30 minutes, then give everything a good stir and turn the sausages so they can get brown on the other side.
Bake for a further 20-30 minutes until the sausages are golden.
