VERSATILE FIVE-CUP SLICE

What this slice lacks in visual appeal, it certainly makes up in total deliciousness. It's a very versatile recipe as you can use whatever ingredients you have on hand. If you want to leave out the chocolate, make up the volume with extra cereal, fruit, or nuts and seeds. Either way, it is sure to be a big hit!

Ingredients

395g tin condensed milk

1 cup (40 - 90g) cereal (Rice Bubbles, Cornflakes, Rolled Oats or Muesli)

1 cup (150g) dried fruit (chopped dates, chopped apricots, sultanas, raisins, cranberries)

1 cup (150g) chopped nuts or seeds (peanuts, cashews, walnuts, almonds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds)

1 cup (150g) chocolate chips (dark, milk and/or white)

Method

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C. Grease a 20cm x 30cm slice pan and line with baking paper.

  • Place all the ingredients into a large bowl and mix until well combined. Using damp hands, press the mixture into the prepared pan to make an even layer.

  • Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden and bubbly. Allow to cool slightly in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Cut into desired sizes.

  • Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week or freeze for up to 6 weeks.

Versatile 5 cup slice. I found this too sweet and sticky. I left it in the oven to try and harden it up but it started to burn.
